Sky Pod Bar at Sky Garden

Opened back in January, the Sky Garden sits on the 37th floor at 20 Fenchurch Street (or the Walkie Talkie Building known to you and I).  It's London's highest public garden and with a huge glass dome and observation deck, boasts 360 degree views of the city, a quirky bar, Sky Pod Bar, and 2 restaurants, Fenchurch & Darwin Brasserie.

I've been wanting to visit The Sky Garden since it first opened and have heard mixed reviews about the Garden itself, but the experience on the whole was a lovely one, despite the buckets of rain and whooshing winds (typical British Summertime) the grey misty murky views were still pretty spectacular and I loved the mix of botanical plants (you can wander up and down stairs, hide out or sit amongst lots of greenery) , urban skyline and a very modern/techy feel to the rest of the building.  (The future of things to come by 2075 when we're all hovering around the sky on electric skateboards??)

After admiring the views of the Leadenhall Building (cheesegrater), 30 St Mary Axe (The Gherkin), The Shard and The Tower of London (my favourite), we took to the Sky Pod bar to sample a cocktail or two.

Even though it was a busy Friday evening at Sky Pod Bar, we managed to get a little table (complete with blankets and service) and ordered a couple of cocktails from a cool modern menu. Definitely worth the mid-high price points, as these drinks were made with love. A Jar of Passion & A Lemon Pie Martini were decorated with pretty yellow pansies (all of the bar's interior is yellow & green) and delicious as you'd expect from such a venue.  The staff's denim uniform also helps give the place a more relaxed feel, one that I definitely prefer, and that you can't always find in a city location.  As it was a Friday, there was also some live soul music from a very talented bunch of guys in bow ties and bowlers, who popped up in between the trees to help get the night started.

I'll definitely be returning to the Sky Garden and Sky Pod Bar soon, (hopefully on a sunny day so I can get out on the observation deck) and also to sample the food.

Booking is free and a must :)
